Construction of the Dhaleshawari Bridge is on to establish direct road link between Dhaka and Munshigonj

Construction of Mukterpur (6th Bangladesh - China Friendship) Bridge Project :

As a part of an integrated transportation network to construct Mukterpur (Sixth China-Bangladesh Friendship) Bridge over river Dhaleswari on Dhaka-Munshigonj road an agreement on economic and technical co-operation signed on 11/01/02 and 24/12/02 between Government of Bangladesh and the People's Republic of China. The goverment of China has selected China Road & Bridge Corporation (CRBC) as the implementation unit. An agreement between JMBA & CRBC signed on 27/12/04. It is expected that the construction work of the project to be completed at the mid of 2008. The Project Concpt Paper (PCP) of the project has been approved by the ECNEC on 7th July 2004. Construction of this bridge will establish fixed transport link between Dhaka city and Munshigonj which is one of the major supply area of agricultural products to the capital city. The proposed Mukterpur bridge when implemented will also bring revolutionary changes in the economic development of the country.
